Understanding the Definitions and Requirements of Act 91 of 2004
This one-day training provides a comprehensive look at federal and state school harassment laws with an emphasis on the provisions of Act 91, Vermont’s 2004 law. It is designed to prepare administrators and Designated Employees to meet their responsibilities under the law, which includes: understanding the law, responding to complaints, communicating with students and parents, state reporting and completing Vermont’s independent review process. Participants will receive model forms and checklists as well as training materials for a 1 1/2 hour introductory presentation to school staffs. Investigation techniques will be covered in the Investigating Harassment Complaint workshop. Under a grant from the Vermont Human Rights Commission and in collaboration with Vermont Department of Education.
