Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Education (Middle/High School)

Fulfills Act 51 Requirements

This interactive training covers: pharmacology, chemical use continuum, chemical dependency in the family, societal and personal attitudes, policy and legal issues, support and referral for students in distress, curriculum development, school climate and drinking and driving.

About the Trainers:

Margo Austin, LADC, holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. She has been a cadre member and trainer for ten years. She is currently a peer prevention educator for Connecting Youth in Chittenden South Supervisory Union.

Marta Koonz earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Connecticut State University. She is an ICRC Internationally Certified Prevention Professional with over 5 years experience as a cadre member and trainer. Her specialty areas include prevention, resiliency, developmental assets, and prevention curricula. Currently, she is a self-employed consultant in substance abuse prevention, prevention curricula, training design, and team-building.

Location: St Johnsbury, VT
Dates: Jan 16 - Mar 6, 2006
Times: This two-day training will take place on January 16, 2006 and March 6, 2006. We will meet from 8 am – 3:30 pm on both days.
Cost: A contract with the school system funds this training. There is no cost to participants. However, participation is limited to staff of the sponsoring supervisory union.
Registration: Space is limited – register early!

A confirmation notice with directions will be emailed to each participant.

Cancellation/Refund Schedule
If a participant cancels…................the refund is:
more than 10 days prior to a training…......100%
10 days – 2 days prior to the training…..... 50%
1 day prior to the training/ no-show…....... 0%

The Center for Health and Learning reserves the right to cancel trainings.
If a training is cancelled due to inclement weather, it will be held on a pre-determined snow date. If a participant is unable to attend on the snow date, 100% of the fee will be refunded.
