(BY INVITATION ONLY) Stategic Prevention Framework Training

Welcome

This series has been designed around results from: the SPF Learning Resource Needs Assessment conducted in June 2009; feedback on summer 2009 site visits conducted by the VT SPF Strategy Team; input from the Prevention Workforce Training Steering Committee, the SPF Training Design Advisory Group and the Deputy Commissioner of Health.

Key Objectives

  • Address on-going relevant topics in a multi-training format
  • Focus on building practical skills/core competencies in coalition leadership
  • Provide opportunities for participants to apply new learning to current coalition work in a hands-on way
  • Offer differentiated instruction to accommodate the different experience levels of participants
  • Create opportunities for cross coalition networking and coaching
    Recognize and validate the good work being done by coalitions

Key Topics

  • Sustainability in Implementation – Practical strategies for addressing sustainability issues (organizational issues, funding, communication with constituencies, etc.).
  • Environmental Change Strategies— Planning and implementing environmental strategies at the local level with an emphasis on Social Marketing and Social Norms/ Media Campaigns.
  • Planning and Implementing Evaluation Strategies – Developing detailed evaluation plans; selecting key indicators; collecting, analyzing and effectively applying process and outcome data.
  • Cultural Competency – Integrating cultural competency throughout all phases of SPF with an emphasis on rural, impoverished communities and socioeconomic factors.
  • Advocacy – On-going local and state level advocacy instruction and implementation.

Cost: These trainings, by invitation only, are funded through grants from the Vermont Department of Health.

Participant materials, continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Participants are encouraged to bring water bottles in order to save on consumables. Prevention Consultants, please bring easels.

Registration: Upon registration, participants will receive an email confirmation immediately. Final confirmations with directions to the training site will be sent via email within one week of training date.

Please bring a printout of your confirmation email.

If you are registering more than ten days prior to the training, your name may not be included on the sign in sheets and name badges. You will be able to hand write your name.
