DESCRIPTION
Not sure which prevention curriculum is right for YOUR coalition? The choices for evidence-based curriculum can be CONFUSING…how are they different?! What do they each seek to achieve? How do they compare in terms of cost, ease of implementation, etc?
This fun and interactive training will help you understand six evidence-based, Department of Education approved curricula, and decide which one will work best for your District! Participants will be introduced to six curricula that address the knowledge, attitudes and skills children and young people need to resist substance use. These evidence-based curricula are designated as national best practice curricula and can be used alone or as a complement to one another, and/or a larger comprehensive health curricula at a single grade level, multi-graded school setting or as the basis for a health class, course or program. The workshop will provide an overview of the curricula design, scope and sequence and learning activities.
By the end of this six-hour training, participants will have:
1) Explored and explained content and design for each of the curricula.
2) Connected curricula to state and national education initiatives including standards
3) Examined skill development throughout one grade level and across grades for each curricula.
4) Considered issues of curriculum integration and implementation with regard to health and other subject areas
