Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Education (K-12)

Fulfills Act 51 Requirements

This interactive training covers: pharmacology, chemical use continuum, chemical dependency in the family, societal and personal attitudes, policy and legal issues, support and referral for students in distress, curriculuim development, school climate and drinking and driving. This training will cover material relevant to grades K-12. Participant materials, continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

BREAKFAST AND LUNCH will be served in the IDX STUDENT LIFE BUILDING, across the sidewalk from your classroom building. PLEASE LET THE CAFETERIA KNOW THAT YOU ARE WITH THE ACT 51 TRAINING BEING HELD IN JOYCE 201.

Parking: Parking is available in any Champlain College lot between two white lines and is also available on the street. Please do not park in a permitted spot indicated by yellow lines.

Trainer: Jan Shamberger

Jan is a licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor in the state of Vermont with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. Jan has worked in this field for the past 16 years; the first three as a treatment provider and Student Assistance Counselor in Washington County; the past 13 years as a Student Assistance Counselor providing direct service at the high school level and coordinating the program for the Burlington School District.

Cost: $150.00 Early Registration – through August 7, 2006.

$165.00 Late Registration – August 8, 2006 until the day of the training.
